All Jio users were wondering as to what will happen on the 31st of March 2018, when their Prime subscription will expire. Announcements from Jio were awaited; some felt that Jio will charge an additional Rs 99 to renew the offer, while others felt that it will just get away with the offer.
Jio said in a statement, “The continued availability of the Jio Prime membership to new subscribers reiterates Jio’s commitment to deliver a differentiated Digital Life experience to Indians, and will propel this into the world’s largest loyalty programme.”
- Existing Jio Prime users will get the service free for another 12 months
- Users can head to MyJio app to get the complimentary service
- All current users are eligible for the service extension
Finally Jio announced their next step!
After a long wait, Jio finally announced that Prime Membership benefits would be extended to customers for 1 more year.
The best thing about this is that the extension is totally free of cost. You don’t have to pay even a rupee extra to avail the benefits.
What about new Jio customers?
New members can join the Jio family & enjoy Prime membership by paying an annual fee of Rs 99. However, they can do so only after 1st of April. It is said that the extension is possible through Jio app, but as of now, details aren’t clear.
How to avail?
As per the steps that are doing rounds on social media, you need to get the MyJio app on your phone (That has a Jio SIM). After signing into the app, you can “Express interest” in extending the membership for 1 year.
However, when we tried doing the same, we saw the message that the membership will be renewed automatically on the 31st of March 2018. Hence, there are no steps that need to be followed.
The company is offering 12 months service complimentary. This free membership is just for old members and not for new ones.
The company also said that new benefits will be offered, but we need to wait for the same.
